Argentaia

Argentaia

Born in a small village near Alba in Piemonte, Paolo Vico spent 25 years on Wall Street, but his love of agriculture called him back to Italy. In 2009 he purchased an estate in Maremma with 80 ha of vineyards (some planted in the late 1950s), olive groves, forests and grazing land. He restored the ancient castle and monastery on the estate into a luxury holiday villa and named it Argentaia as a tribute to the adjacent sea of Argentario.

Viticulture on this estate dates back to Etruscan times. This heritage combined with the unique terroir of red soil and limestone, dry climate, sea breeze and biodiversity give Paolo the confidence to produce exceptional wines that rival the wines of neighboring Bolgheri and Montalcino. To attain his goal to become the producer of the best wines of Southern Tuscany, Paolo enlisted the expertise of acclaimed oenoligsts Gianfranco Cordero and Gianpiero Gerbi.
