La Montina

La Montina

The La Montina winery was established in 1987 by three Bozza brothers Vittorio, Gian Carlo and Alberto. Faithful to the family’s winemaking tradition, they began building the winery, removing the equivalent of about 85,000 cubic metres of hillside to create a production facility covering about 7,500 m2, completely underground.

Today the next generation in person of Michele and Daniele add new interpretations of the old family tradition according to innovative and technologically advanced concepts to La Montina winery. Today, the company, which is dedicated solely to the production of Franciacorta DOCG, is one of the most representative of Franciacorta with a production of about 400,000 bottles a year.

The vineyards extend over an area of approximately 72 hectares in Monticelli Brusati in the province of Brescia, in the extreme northeast section of Franciacorta. Occupying a natural morainic amphitheatre at the beginning of the Mugnina Valley and alongside romantic Lake Iseo the vines find an extraordinary micro-climate produced by this morphological conformation. Here the vine and the olive find a perfect natural habitat for maturation and growth.

The first reliable information we have on La Montina dates back to 1620 when Benedetto Montini, ancestor of Pope Paul VI, built the mansion today called Villa Baiana. Located in Villa Baiana and the adjacent La Montina winery is the Museum of Contemporary Art in Franciacorta Remo Bianco. In the museum, which has been open to the public since September 2004, about one hundred of the 400 works of Remo Bianco (Dergano, Milan 1922 – Milan 1988) are exhibited, at a time. The artist was a major exponent of Italian art between the 1950s and 1970s.

It’s worth mentioning that La Montina has been selected the official supplier for the renown soccer club AC Milan.

In full respect of its tradition, La Montina has renewed its image, and has done so through colours, values and elements of Mother Nature. An ethical and aesthetic choice to convey a colourful, authentic and fresh image that preserves and transmits the values of a tradition, while at the same time renewing them. Hence La Montina today offers its wines, which have made it one of the most renowned producers of Franciacorta, in traditional bottle shapes, but with a renewed image and label colours. A choice of style. A choice of life.
