Blaufrankisch arrived in Austria at the end of the 10th century and is now Austria’s second widely planted red wine varietal. It thrives in the deep, loamy soils of Mittelburgenland. Just as with Zweigelt, the key to high quality Blaufränkisch is yield limitation.
