Weingut Leth

The Leth family is now the third generation to focus on wine-growing. Whilethis doesn´t seem like such a long time, it has been long enough to create – with idealism, innovation and investment – one of the leading wineries in the region. From the very beginning, we´ve been winemakers of pure passion – beginning with Franz and Barbara Leth in the early 1960s; and then with sons Franz and Erich, who shaped the ´80s and ´90s, and now with Franz Jr., who recently became responsible for the estate´s wine line.

The Wagram, a massive, south-facing terrain comprised of fertile loess soils, is named after the “Wogenrain”, a former bank of the Danube river. On the Wagram, work is carried out hand in hand with nature. Which is one of the reasons why the distinctive wines here have evolved in recent years from a kind of “secret tip” to an integral part of a great wine culture. The area is home to diverse flora and fauna, and rare birds such as the hoopoe, the bee eater and the barn owl, thrive here as well – all proving that the environment has remained unspoiled. And this is exactly why the vines flourish on the Wagram – they preserve and care for the natural resources that provide such a wealth of wonderful soil and climate.
