– Guy Thibaud Brut Verzenay, Grand Cru, Guy Thibaut, (France, Champagne, Champagne )

This golden colored Grand Cru Champagne is a blend of 80% Pinot Noir which confers body, generosity and warmth, and 20% Chardonnay, which delivers freshness and livelyness. It possesses a good structure which carries floral aromas but also dried fruit and honey flavors. Bottle aged for 3 years before release, this heartful Chamapagne will give you pleasure on many different occasions.

– Grüner Veltliner Ried Kirchenberg DAC, Nigl, (Austria, Kremstal, White )

Ripe, full bodied Gruener Veltliner. Bursts with tropical fruit contrasted with green apple flavors. But there is so much more to this heart stopping wine as it also offers cinnamon, anise, a finely structured minerality with underlying herbaceous notes, a vibrant acidity and a finish that goes on and on and on.

Giving this wine some time to evolve will reward you immensely as its potential unfurls over a few hours after opening. You can jump-start this evolution by decanting.

– Sauvignon Blanc ‘Oberberg’, Kornell, (Italy, Alto Adige, White )

From the single vineyard Oberberg comes this high quality, extremely elegant and harmonious Sauvignon Blanc. It greets you with a light straw-yellow color with a greenish glint and offers fresh notes of elderflower that gradually deepen to elderberry jam, framed by aromas of fresh nettles. Most impressive, however, I find its unsurpassable minerality, expressed in an unmistakenly savory, salty manner, which will lend this wine longevity for many years to come.

– Riesling Ried Gaisberg 1 OTW Zoebing Kamptal DAC, Hirsch, (Austria, Kamptal, White )

This single vineyard Riesling is sourced from 40-year-old vines that thrive on the terraced slopes of the famous Zöbinger Gaisberg vineyard. The eroded primary rock soils offer ideal preconditions for Riesling. Due to their expressive fruit and mineral character, wines from this site tend to charm quite early, yet excel with remarkable ageing potential.
The Gaisberg is usually harvested in mid-October, whole cluster pressed, and then exclusively fermented with natural yeasts at ambient temperatures. It is matured in stainless steel tanks and large oak casks and rests on the fine lees through April. The wine is bottled in July following harvest.

Pale green-yellow. Attractive, ale tropical fruit reminiscent of passion fruit and pineapple accompanied by subtle notes of blossom honey, lemongrass and flint. Highly elegant on the palate and displaying plenty of finesse in its juicy and well-balanced structure. A hint of honey also remains long on the finish. Already quite seductive.

– Pinot Noir Ried Satzen, Weingut Malat, (Austria, Kremstal, Red )

Garnet verging on brickred, firm and lush, with scents of violets and blackberries filling the air. Pomegranate. A hint of pine, cinnamon, tobacco leaf and a lot of warmth give this Pinot a generous structure which embodies complexity and delicacy. Its substantial body suggests earthy notes with a plush and long finish.

– Proprietor’s Syrah, Ernie Els Wines, (South Africa, Stellenbosch, Red )

The Proprietor’s Syrah immediately leaps from the glass with layers of mocha, cinnamon and dense spicy fruit. The palate shows a contrast of dried sage over maraschino cherry in an exotic, graphite-like body. Rich, glossy black and blueberry fruits stain the glass, offering powerful depth against the backdrop of mouth-coating, succulent tannins. The finish is bold and lingers for minutes with primary red fruits and a hint of fine espresso foam. Impressive now, further aging will add even more complexity.
Aged for 17 months – 70% in 300 liter French Oak barrels & 30% in 300 liter American Oak Barrels.

– DE TOREN Fusion V , De Toren, (South Africa, Stellenbosch, Red )

Fusion V is the crown of the De Toren Cellar’s labour – a tasting sensation and ageing jewel!

The Fusion is a beautiful blend of black currant, mocha and anise on the nose and palate, unfolding in rich, ripe layers. Integrated but still ageable, it’s an elegant Bordeaux-style blend that marries the excitement of South African spice with the sophistication of a French red blend. Give this wine a lot of air. (Wine Enthusiast)

Fusion V is named such because it is a blend of the only the best of the five red Bordeaux variatals that the farm produces: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot.

Influential wine writer Cees van Casteren observed that De Toren and Latour are perhaps suggestively close, but that the wines of De Toren stand proud in their own right.
Attesting to the quality of their wines, De Toren has been chosen to supply the proprietary wine for the world’s greatest hotel: The Burj Al Arab Jumeira in Dubai!

– Cabernet Sauvignon “Major Series”, Ernie Els Wines, (South Africa, Stellenbosch, Red )

Red berry fruits billow from the glass with classic cigar notes over elegant crushed dried herbs, black cherry and ripe plums with red cherry freshness. The entry is inviting, fresh with a vibrant youthful energy of bouncy red fruit and an earthy undertow. The tannins are still tight, medium bodied and fresh expressing the crystalline character of the 2017 vintage. As the wine evolves in the glass there is an attractive tension between red and black fruit with a hint of liquorice over a linear focused and dry finish.

Aged for 17 months – 300 liter French Oak barrels (20% new)

– Amarone della Valpolicella DOC, Marion, (Italy, Veneto, Red )

Only a few thousand bottles are produced of this magnificent Amarone. The grapes were dried on bamboo tables from harvest in September till January, then slowly fermented in stainless steel using only natural yeasts. Matured in 350 liter barrels of Slavonian oak. The result is a very complex, full-bodied wine with layers of dried fruit, allspice, minerals and hints of black pepper and liquorice. Sip and think!

– Brunello di Montalcino D.O.C.G., Uccelliera, (ITALY, Tuscany, Red )

– Tranaltri IGP Passito Bianco Veneto, Celestino Gaspari, Zýmē, (Italy, Veneto, White )

Straw yellow with tendency toward deep gold with age. Nose of wild flowers, acacia honey, mixed nuts and gunflint. On the palate the sweetness is overshadowed by savory notes with impressions of herbs and apples. All wrapped in a flinty minerality that gives this wine a wonderful balance and lingering finish.
