With 8,000 bottles released, the Argentaia Maremma Toscana Orto delle Monache is a pure expression of coastal Tuscan Sangiovese with fruit from 70-year-old vines in soils of ancient marine origin and tufo. This mid-weight red shows good freshness with tart cherry and raspberry that is contrasted by vintage ripeness and baked plum. It finishes in French barrique, and you’ll recognize oak-driven spice and exotic sandalwood. This was a hot vintage with little rain that produced concentrated fruit.
